Warning Moms--Don't try this at Home...

Jonathan goes to Open Gym on Wednesdays. He is in a gymnastics class on Saturdays, and the gym is open to kids 5 and under on Wednesdays for an hour. Jonathan has fun jumping in the pit, sliding down steep mats, and jumping on the trampoline. It is low key and gets us out of the house.

So, today we went, and Jonathan decided he wanted to do the obstacle course. He was practicing cartwheels, and he kept landing on his knees. So, I said, "Jonathan, watch me. You want to kick up high and land on your feet." I proceeded to do a cartwheel. Okay, I should have stretched beforehand because I swear I pulled a glute muscle doing a STUPID cartwheel!!! Apparently, I am not as flexible as I thought I was... Maybe Janis will massage it out for me. :P

Props to you for doing a cartwheel! That is awesome. I think if I were to try that, I would probably fall on my head and break my neck.
How much does the gym cost?? I think Cadence and Kendall would like that too.
You are so smart for waiting until the movie gets to the dollar theatre, I was astounded at the cost of our tickets in the middle of the day! It was sixteen fifty. Can you believe that? And what is worse is I thought I had gift cards to use and it has been so long since we have been to the movies that I forgotten that they were both almost used up, so I still had to pay. I felt really bad and haven't told Bart yet. Oh well, we still had fun..
Hope your glute feels better soon! Try to relax, ha just kidding!

Oh...getting older....doesn't it feel great? I remember when Gregory and Tory were young (so I was still in my early 20's), and we took them to a place called the Discovery Zone. It was a kids fun place with lots of tubes and climbing things. You had to pay for the kids, but Mom and Dad could climb for free. Our first time there, Greg and I thought we would go climbing with them. What were we thinking?? There is nothing fun about crawling through tubes and chutes. No wonder the parents played for free~they were not dummies on that one. My knees hurt just thinking about it! Somethings are definitely best left to those young in body and not just young in heart!

Holy Crap! You did a cartwheel? Was your shirt tucked in? Did you give yourself enough room? I wouldn't even do one in an open meadow. Then again, I'm not a former cheerleader or dance squad member.

Yep, I remember in the late 90's my oldest kids got really into roller blading. Looked easy enough to me so I bought me some really nice expensive blades (it's important to have good equipment), I still have them, I think they've been used twice.

I never remembered falling down to be so detrimental... And where the heck are the brakes??? After going down hard 2 or 3 times, I retired those things for a future time when I would be in better shape... Yep, I'm still waiting for that day.

Wow, how fun to have a cheerleading mom! You go, girl!

That's a new kind of mommy-pain. Did Jonathan at least get the picture? Can he land on his feet now too? (Without pulling a muscle?)

Jen--this made me giggle envisioning it all. At least you know how to do a cartwheel--I don't know if I could do one to save my life.

You did such a great job creating a visual image in my head. It sounds like Jonathan is the only one with a mommy cool enough to even put herself at mortal risk to teach him something. You're super-mom, Jenn!! Maybe we'll come play with you guys tomorrow!!

Man, you are REALLY milking this, aren't you? Come on, Jenn! Give me something new to poke fun at! (hee hee hee)

Come on now, you've made changes on the LOOK of your blog! Where are the stories? I miss my Jenn-fix! I do expect to see some photos of the birthday party I missed out on-I was there in spirit, I promise.
